Botox, dermal fillers, and “the lip flip”

Women who are unhappy with the appearance of their lips may not be aware that there are non-surgical solutions available. At the practice of Dr. Eric Wiitala, patients can not only have their dental needs address, but can also ask for certain cosmetic procedures such as the Botox and dermal filler “lip flip.”

What is a “lip flip?”

The “lip flip” is a cosmetic enhancement during which the patient achieve a subtle change to the lips using injectables. It can also be a great way for patients to improve the shape of the upper lip as well as add volume to the lower lip for a more desirable result. Dr. Eric Wiitala is pleased to use both Botox and dermal fillers to achieve the results patients desire without needing plastic surgery. These injectables can be obtained at each recall appointment while patients also have their teeth cleaned and their dental examination done at the same visit.

What can I expect from a “lip flip?”

Dr. Eric Wiitala describes the “lip flip” as a minimally invasive procedure done quickly in the dental chair that can assist patients in enhancing the lips with either a neuromodulator such as Botox or a hyaluronic acid dermal filler such as Juvéderm. These cosmetic injectables are administered into the lip area to reshape or volumize the lips and provide the enhancement patients need for thin, small lips. This improves the smile as a whole, in addition to ensuring the patient is practicing good oral health habits.

Which injectable is best for me?

Some patients may find that the dermal filler works better for the lower lip, but Botox may be used at the same time in the upper lip to get the results patients desire. Our dental staff will evaluate a patient and decide which injectable is best for their unique concerns.
