Dentistry may have relied on amalgam, or silver fillings, for well over a century, but this trend is all but gone now. Amalgam fillings contain metal, and they include mercury. Even if the idea that mercury may seep from dental amalgam doesn’t affect you, there is reason to consider an alternative like porcelain fillings. Dental porcelain is made explicitly for long-term durability, which means this type of filling is unlikely to crack. The margins of a porcelain filling are also stable because porcelain is chemically bonded to enamel. Finally, there is the matter of aesthetics. Porcelain fillings are smart because they wipe out all evidence that a tooth or teeth have been damaged.

Smart Solution #2 – CEREC Restorations

CEREC is an innovative system that allows us to complete an entire restorative treatment in one visit. For example, if you break a tooth and need a crown, we can finish the preparation for your crown and take digital impressions to capture the details of your tooth, as well as the opposing tooth. The images that we obtain with a small camera are then sent directly to our CEREC milling machine, which contains sophisticated software that designs your crown. Your final restoration is carved from a block of dental porcelain within that same visit.

Smart Solution #3 – Cosmetic Injectables
